BfV decision: Juniors cancel the season, juniors do not

Bavarian Football Association decides whether to continue the 20219/20 season for juniors. U17 of TSV 1860 Munich creates promotion in the U17 Bundesliga.

Munich - The Bavarian Football Association (BfV) has already decided to continue playing men and women . The BfV has now adopted suggestions from a solution working group on how to deal with the 2019/20 season for the juniors.

End of season for the juniors

The end of the season for the juniors may come as a surprise to many. Association youth leader Florian Weißmann explains in a message from the BfV why this decision was practically without alternative. On the one hand, there are “completely different framework conditions in the youth area than in the men's”. For example, more than half of the 14,100 teams in the F to C junior area are active in non-promotional play operations . "Another important aspect is the targeted and interdisciplinary promotion of talent," added Weißmann. In addition, the different structures at district, district and association level must be taken into account.

Why do juniors continue the season?

The continuation of the season for juniors is primarily due to a social component. Sandra Hofman n, Chair of the Association Committee for Women and Girls, worked in the subgroup juniors. "The issue of 'bonding' of the players is much more important for the clubs than for the adults or juniors." For the juniors, the sense of community is often above the sporting ambition. Club representatives were also afraid of losing many players if they dropped out. This could lead to team disbandments, which junior game operations may not be able to cope with.

TSV 1860 Munich: perfect rise in the U17 Bundesliga

The BfV also clarified the question of promotion and descent in the junior area. On the basis of a quotient rule , the best placed team entitled to promotion and the team standing on the relegation place rise. Therefore, the successful U17 TSV 1860 Munich to return to the U17 league . In 2017, the young lions experienced a plague year when the U19 and U17 descended from the federal leagues. Since then, neither team has been able to get back up. In order to attract the best talent to Grünwalder Straße, the TSV must be in the highest youth league. The return to the U17 Bundesliga should drive the youth work of the lions again.
