The TEV Miesbach has found a new trainer. Ivan Horak will train the Bayernliga team - and other teams in the club.

Miesbach - Due to the corona crisis, those responsible at TEV Miesbach took their time this year to answer the trainer's question. After it was decided last week that, as reported, you will continue to play in the Bayernliga in the 2020/21 season and that you will not exercise your right to promotion to the Oberliga, the new coach has now been determined. Ivan Horak will train the red-whites in the new season. He succeeds Peter Kathan. This had resigned after the successful last season to have more time for his family.

Horak has been under contract with the TEV for two years and, as a trainer for various teams, took care of the training of the youngsters. The 63-year-old Czech will continue to be involved in the junior teams, and he is now also responsible for the Bayern League cracks. “Ivan knows the club and knows what is possible. We discussed the implications for the youngsters in detail because we absolutely want to prevent the position of coaching the first from being at the expense of the youngsters, ”explains sporting director and second chairman, Stefan Moser.

Horak continues to train the youngsters

Horak came to Bavaria after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1990 and played for TEV Miesbach for two seasons until 1992. Then he took over two years as a player coach at ESC Holzkirchen. After hanging up his ice skates, he worked as a coach in the youth division of HC Vitkovice before returning to Germany. His first stop as a men's coach was ESV Bayreuth, followed by numerous other clubs, such as Halle, Höchstadt or Dresden.

Before returning to Schlierach, Horak, who now also has German citizenship, was under contract with last year's league rival EHF Passau. In Miesbach he coached the 1c team in the district league and supervised the U15. He was also on the ice at the ice skating school.

Overall, the former defender can look back on over 20 years of coaching experience. “I am happy to help the TEV in this difficult time and also to look after the first team. I have seen the training sessions and games in recent years and know that I am taking over an intact team, ”says Horak himself, who is currently still in his Czech homeland. He will soon return to the Oberland and devote himself to his new task.
