ARD expert accuses Bavaria of "mediocrity" for weakness - statistics prove the opposite

FC Bayern move into the DFB Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt - but are careless about big chances. ARD expert Thomas Broich clarifies the weakness. However, the statistics say otherwise. An analysis.

• The Bayern Munich * draws by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt  again in the DFB Cup final one.
• But: The record champion shows a blatant exploitation of opportunities , especially through Kingsley Coman .
• ARD expert Thomas Broich reveals the flaw of the Bundesliga * table leader - but his analysis has a catch.

Munich - The Bavarians * people . This is how Munich's most recent 45 minutes can be summed up  in the Allianz Arena *. 

The German record champions prevailed in the DFB Cup semi-final 2: 1 (1: 0) against Eintracht Frankfurt * - and thus moved into the final for the third time in a row.

And yet there was a flaw that  Bayern coach Hansi Flick * described on ARD in the following words: “The second half was not quite as good. We didn't do it well. " 

World champion Thomas Müller * even gave a lecture: “We were also very pomad, tired, slack from the past few weeks. Clearly. And that unfortunately pulled through and worsened in the second half. We were dirty, as we are not used to from us. "

What both probably meant: the exploitation of chances against equally tired Hessen - Müller : "We have to lead significantly higher in the first half." 

Bayern Munich: Kingsley Coman shows weaknesses in front of the goal

Specifically: Frankfurt's Dominik Kohr cleared his header on the line in the sixth minute, then Robert Lewandowski slipped past a cross pass a meter before the goal (8th). 

Kingsley Coman also awarded from close range and in the best position (25th) before Eintracht keeper Kevin Trapp magnificently defused a powerful Lewandowski shot (31st).

#Coman is often in a good position because he is faster than everyone else.

But how can you bring the ball so rarely on goal or to the teammate.

In particular, Coman had to put up with clear criticism from fans and observers on social media because of his supposed weakness in closing. Once again, the 23-year-old had missed the last goal. 

In 30 competitive games to date, the young Frenchman has scored six goals with the inimitable start - something little for an outside attacker, especially with a view to the likely competition with Leroy Sané and Ivan Perisic *.

The 39-year-old, who was born in Munich and grew up soccer at SpVgg Unterhaching, became clear in his game analysis with moderator Matthias Opdenhövel *. 

Broich , who is valued as a tactics expert in the scene, praised the FCB for his attitude and ambition. But when it came to exploiting opportunities, he said: " Bavaria is only mediocre." The statistics would prove this.

Really? The thesis is not quite correct when it comes to transfermarkt.de . The specialist portal lists the opportunities exploited by the Bundesliga clubs *. 

According to these statistics, no other team is more efficient than Borussia Dortmund . The rate of the Westphalia is therefore 32 percent. Means: Not every auspicious shot on goal, but every third, is a hit.

The Bayern are in these statistics together with RB Leipzig (18.9 percent) in third. In addition to BVB , the more determined Munich opponent Gladbach (Saturday, 6.30 p.m., here in the live ticker *) is attacking - with a quota of 20.1 percent. The average is 15.9 percent.

Broich was therefore not quite right with his “mediocrity” thesis. And yet: Kingsley Coman in particular will have to stretch when it comes to exploiting opportunities - for a place in the FC Bayern squad * and further titles with the German record champions *.
