Sevilla (dpa) - FC Sevilla won the derby against Real Betis Sevilla 2-0 (0-0) on the return of Spanish professional football. In the first game after a 93-day Corona break, Lucas Ocampos (56th minute / penalty) and Fernando Reges (62th) met for the hosts.
Before the controversial penalty kick, the former Dortmund defender Marc Bartra had leaned on Luuk de Jong. FC Sevilla climbed to third place in the Primera División by winning the ghost game without spectators for at least one night.
Corona had forced the top Spanish league to take a three-month break. The last game before the standstill was played on March 10 by SD Eibar and Real Sociedad (1: 2). It had been a ghost game because of the virus. The ball was last rolled in front of spectators in the grandstands in Seville on March 8. Back then, Betis beat Real Madrid 2-1 sensationally.
Madrid with German international Toni Kroos are two points behind leaders FC Barcelona in second place in the table and play at home against SD Eibar from the Basque Country on Sunday. "By not playing against each other anymore, we just have to make sure we win our games," said the midfielder at DAZN. "And of course we have to hope that Barcelona will leave something behind." FC Barcelona could already present goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen in the championship race on Saturday. The Catalans have to compete at RCD Mallorca.
