Ligue 2: Gakpa, the good move of Paris FC

2020-06-13T02:00:34.112Z

Paris FC signed Marvin Gakpa, outlying midfielder from Metz (L1), for three years this Friday. The Paris club already has nine recruits.

Paris FC put a new boost to its recruitment this Friday. As we announced, he formalized the signatures for three years of the powerful striker Gaëtan Laura (24 years old), author of a big season with Quevilly RM (11 goals, 6 assists) and Marvin Gapka (26 years old) , eccentric environment of Metz (L1). A big blow. If he has played little this season (13 games including 4 tenures), he was one of the great architects of the rise of Metz in L1. After a professional debut in Lorient, Gakpa has established himself as a safe bet in L2 (99 games, 14 goals). While he was still under contract for three years with Metz, he did not hesitate to go back to L2.

With this transfer, Paris FC, despite a missed season (17th in L2), shows that it has regained some attractiveness. Gakpa has indeed declined the proposals of more upscale clubs like Brest (L1), Le Havre, Clermont, Auxerre (L2) to choose the Parisian project.

The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 club that has made the most progress in its transfer window

With the arrival of Frédéric Hébert as sports director in January and the establishment of a real recruitment unit, Paris FC has changed its strategy. He is now signing longer contracts (3 years) and has gone to find many promising National players.

Last year, the recruiting was completely missed and the team dragged him like a ball all season. This year, the transfer window has been fast and seems much more thoughtful and consistent. With already nine recruits, Paris FC is the most advanced L1 and L2 club. He is still looking for a left back and plans to recruit an additional midfielder according to the opportunities.

Coach René Girard, as he wished, will therefore have an almost complete workforce for the resumption of training on June 22. This changes from certain past years, where there were only fifteen players including young people, for the recovery…
