The Yacht Club Bad Wiessee has received the Blue Flag, an award for environmental protection, for the fifth time.
Bad Wiessee - Having fun with sport and environmental protection goes hand in hand at the Bad Wiessee Yacht Club. For the fifth time, the Yacht Club has received the Blue Flag, one of the best-known environmental awards, as an international environmental symbol for the areas of water quality, environmental communication, environmental management and service / security from the "Foundation for Environmental Education" and the German Society for Environmental Education - as the only yacht club in all of Bavaria. This makes the Wiesseer the most environmentally friendly sailing club in the Free State.
"We are very pleased that our commitment to environmental protection is recognized with such a top-class and international honor," explains Peter Kathan, Chairman of the Yacht Club. "And of course we continue to strive to maintain and expand this environmental level in our club."
The association founded in 1971 on the western shore of Lake Tegernsee is now allowed to fly the flag again this year on its trips. However, only as long as the criteria for the award are met. If this is no longer the case, the flag must remain on the bank. Environment and port officer Peter Schmidt is responsible for ensuring that this does not happen. "We attach great importance to environmental protection and sustainability and make every effort to preserve our nature," he emphasizes. So that the Blue Flag on Tegernsee can also fly in 2021.
