ARD man Matthias Opdenhövel: Embarrassing mistake in Rummenigge interview - millions of fans hear it

Before the DFB Cup game between FC Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt, ARD man Matthias Opdenhövel made two faux pas in a TV interview with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Before the DFB Cup game between FC Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt, ARD man Matthias Opdenhövel made two faux pas in a TV interview with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

  • It  will be strange before the DFB Cup match between FC Bayern * and Eintracht Frankfurt .
  • ARD man Matthias Opdenhövel affords  a double dropout  in conversation with  Karl-Heinz Rummenigge .
  • On Twitter, the TV interview polarizes - and causes hate and criticism.

Munich - "Good evening to the studio" - greeted Karl- Heinz Rummenigge cheerfully before the DFB Cup appearance by FC Bayern against Eintracht Frankfurt *  (live ticker for reading) when switching to the ARD studio.

In the further course of the conversation with moderator Matthias Opdenhövel , several curiosities followed, which caused amused but also irritated reactions from the TV viewers.

Quirky interview mistake on the edge of Bayern against Eintracht Frankfurt

Curiosity 1:  The interview started when Opdenhövel (in the presence of expert Thomas Broich *) spoke to the CEO of Bayern Munich about the lost cup final 2018 against Eintracht.

The FCB official's answer: "I think we also made a contribution that we lost." Rummenigge justified this with the fact that Munich had left the Champions League a week earlier in Madrid and at the final in Berlin then "no longer played with great motivation". Reason? The triple *  was no longer possible at this time.

Sporadic users on the net got on the palm because Bavaria's board boss gave them the impression of a supposedly bad loser:

Mimimi .. we only lost 2 years ago because we flew out of the CL the week before .. mimimi # rummenigge # FCBSGE

- Georg Kraft (@ groeg92) June 10, 2020

Rummenigge didn't really have the defeat in the cup final in 2018, the semi-final defeat in the Champions League.
Madness, how can you be such a bad loser - disgusting! #FCBSGE

- Sebastian (@sbstntrn) June 10, 2020

However, it should be mentioned: In the end Rummenigge let the cup defeat against the SGE 2018 coax the sentence: "In the end, they deservedly won."

That was not the case with curiosities in the ARD interview before the duel between Munich and Frankfurt * was kicked off.

Bayern Munich: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as President of the Reds?

Curiosity 2: Who is actually the president of the most successful German football club? Well, as a noble fan of Borussia Mönchengladbach, you don't necessarily have to know that, as a well-known sports journalist in Germany, you probably have to. Most fans probably know that Uli Hoeneß is no longer at the top of the club at FCB

ARD man Opdenhövel apparently too - and twice attested to his interlocutor Rummenigge the position "President of FC Bayern". It is clear that the bizarre double -decker did not remain hidden from eager Twitter users - along with the corresponding statements:

"We welcome FCB President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge" Competent reporting, lick me bold @ard #fcbsge @dfbpokal # opdenhövel

- Marco1999 (@eillbiebaeck) June 10, 2020

Sorry @sportschau but what do you smoke?

I was already shocked when #Broich saw no disadvantage in playing #Perisic instead of #Gnabry.

When @MOpdenhoevel called 2x (!!) #Rummenigge "President" in the interview, I switched to #sky. #fcbsge

- PepFiction (@Pep_Fiction) June 10, 2020

But: In the further course of the TV broadcast ( voting: who was the best FCB player? *), Opdenhövel finally apologized to Rummenigge for his faux pas. He made "a buck" to call Rummenigge president. That is of course Herbert Hainer, best regards ”.

Alphonso Davies now has a catchy name: The FCB shooting star has now overtaken Lionel Messi and "CR7" in terms of market value.

FC Bayern: That's what Karl-Heinz Rummenigge thinks about a salary cap

Something that many soccer fans crave is a return of runaway profit to a more reasonable economy with less insane amounts of money. A key to this could be an upper salary limit in the top leagues, similar to North America.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently surprised with statements about a so-called "salary cap":

It will also be exciting soon whether the ARD may still show its “sports show” in the future. TV rights will be granted from 2021 onwards in June. FC Bayern recently announced that team doctor Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt will soon leave the record champion. After the 2-1 win against Gladbach, Flick commented on the weak record new signing of FCB.
