The tennis season in Bavaria starts next weekend. A lot is different this year, only a few teams from the Würmtal are at the start - and two clubs are not at all.

Würmtal - It was a long time back and forth, in the end the Bavarian Tennis Association (BTV) decided not to miss the 2020 summer round despite the corona pandemic. The ball will fly again next weekend. However, the promotion and relegation rule was suspended, and clubs were still able to deregister teams.

Two clubs from the Würmtal pull all tennis teams back

The clubs from the Würmtal have dealt with it differently. There are no games in the medals at the TC Grün-Weiß Graefelfing and at the TC Blau-Weiß Graefelfing (tennis department of TSV Graefelfing). "We didn't take it easy, but then decided to withdraw all teams," said Petra Schmid-Kirmer, blue and white chair.

Ultimately, several factors were decisive. “The team leaders would have had a lot of responsibility to ensure that all hygiene requirements were met. In addition, we did not want to block our members who did not play in a team in the already shortened season with points, ”explains Schmid-Kirmer.

Friendly games and LK tournaments as a substitute

Neighbor TCGW had similar reasons to deregister all 31 teams. "Of course, our ambitious players regretted this, but ultimately we saw it with a large majority," reports board member Christiane Zinner. To keep the athletes happy, internal competitions should provide variety. "I also expect performance class tournaments to take place soon," said Zinner.

Friendly games with neighboring clubs are planned for the offspring. Because both the TC Neunerberg, tennis division of the SV Planegg-Krailling, and the DJK Würmtal have each withdrawn their youth and Bambini teams from the official round. “It would have been difficult, especially for away games. It is not possible to have more children in the car, ”says Yannick Libeer, deputy chairman of the DJK tennis department. Elke Bischof, head of the TCN department, adds: "After all, no spectators are allowed, so no parents either." In the adult area, some teams are starting at both clubs.

The TC Gauting board can be changed by members

If it were up to Mika Unting, no player would contest point games this summer, even at TC Gauting. "But then, together with the board of directors, I met the wishes of the teams that had expressly opted for the point game operation," said the TCG sports manager. "I have adjusted the game plan so that never more than three teams play at the same time."

In addition, of course, all athletes must adhere to the strict hygiene regulations. "So far, it has worked out very well in training," says Unting. Furthermore, all guests should sign a disclaimer. "So that the board cannot be held liable," explains the Gautinger.

Senior leagues are sometimes not formed

In some leagues, so many teams have withdrawn that there is no season. This particularly affects many high-class senior leagues. “We would have loved to play, but we can understand the reaction of other clubs. The effort is sometimes great, especially if you have a long journey, ”says Rainer Weber, Deputy Chairman of TV Stockdorf. His club, which has enjoyed great success in the senior sector over the past few years, only signed off a few teams.

The same applies to the TSV Pentenried, where only the men 70 will not serve. “I'm looking forward to being able to play freely. It's not about advancement or descent, ”says department head Henning Wicht. Even doubles are now possible again.
