Junior Sambia has almost definitively turned the page. The 23-year-old Montpellier player was admitted to an intensive care unit at the end of April and then plunged into an artificial coma for a time. Questioned this Monday by France Bleu Hérault, he said he was out of the woods and ready to find his team next Monday in training.
"I feel ready to start again," says the player, smiling. I can play sports without problem. There is no longer any discomfort. It's been a long time since I took over and I have followed the staff program normally. I'm just 2-3 pounds missing. Otherwise everything is fine. "

The former Chamois Niortais (2014-2017) also recounts what happened to him, just before being admitted to intensive care, on April 20: “I fell ill. I had head, stomach, and vomiting pain. The doctor came by, we were thinking of gastro (enteritis). I passed the Covid-19 test, which was negative. They themselves were not sure what I had. It was changing all the time… ”
"I don't even go out to shop anymore!" "
Three days later, Junior Sambia was placed in an artificial coma at the Montpellier University Hospital. “I was scared at first, when I was having trouble breathing. Afterwards, I was no longer aware […] When I woke up, I was just weak but I did not feel the frustration that it made. Meanwhile, the Montpellier citizen is again tested. The result is positive this time but it is only two days before its release, in the first week of May, that the player learns the news.
Today, the player affected by the virus claims to be still the same despite the experience he has just had: “Nothing has changed in my life. I stay the same. The only difference is that I pay even more attention. I don't even go out to shop anymore! I stay at home, it's better. Those who stopped the championship made the right decision. Health is a priority. "
