Bavaria's youngest black belt wearer in taekwondo comes from Lake Tegernsee: Lina-Marie Wahl passed the exam at the age of just twelve before the eyes of a grand master.

Gmund - This black belt test by the Taekwondo family Tegernsee in Gmund was also a first for Grand Master Jae-Hee Chang - despite more than 50 years of experience. For the first time, the Korean living in Munich took an individual test in the open air. This did not detract from the success of examinee Lina-Marie Wahl. She mastered the tasks required to achieve the second poom (second black belt youth).

Corona and the associated restrictions not only ensured that the exam location was unusual, but also that the exam assistants came from their own families. Father Andreas, who is also head of the Taek-wondo school on Lake Tegernsee, and brother Lennart stood by and supported the twelve-year-old. This was the only way to correctly comply with the guidelines.

Basic techniques learned, pommsae (movement school), competition, self-defense, one-step combat and of course break tests were tested. After more than 90 minutes, Grand Master Chang finally passed the test and bowed to the performance shown. This makes Lina-Marie Wahl one of only 738 black belt wearers under the age of 16 with the second boom in Germany - and the youngest in Bavaria.

"We are incredibly proud and happy that the grand master came to Lake Tegernsee and gave us the chance to take the exam at this age," says Andreas Wahl. Reaching the second boom at the age of twelve is the absolute exception in Germany and is actually only common in Korea. But the signs at Lina-Marie Wahl were very different from those of many other taekwondo athletes in Germany. "She has been growing up with me in the taekwondo school since she was five years old," reveals Papa Andreas Wahl. So there is no lack of experience.

Accordingly, despite her young age, she is already a trainer in Gmund. When it comes down to it - for example if the dad fails with a torn ligament - also for the adults. She is also a role model, especially for the young students. "It is different if she passes the exam at twelve years old than I am at 40," says Andreas Wahl with a smile.
