Football: OM and Val-d'Europe rewarded for their good deeds

Olympique de Marseille and Val-d'Europe FC received the Philippe-Séguin trophy to reward their social and civic action.


A professional club, Marseille, and 4 amateur clubs - Val-d'Europe, La Romaine, Chambéry and Etoile Mouzillonaise - are the winners of the Philippe-Séguin trophies from the Fondaction du football. Created on the initiative of Philippe Séguin, first president of the Fondaction du football and former president of the national assembly, this operation is a call for candidates aiming to identify, support and enhance the civic initiatives already implemented by football clubs. amateurs and professionals and players.

More than 200 actions have already been rewarded since 2008, for a total endowment of 717,000 euros. Among the good practices identified, certain actions give rise to generalization. The call for candidates is open to all amateur clubs for which a financial endowment rewards the first 4 prizes for each of the 4 categories.

"A role which goes beyond the sporting framework"

The Val-d'Europe FC women's football school (from 6 to 13 years old) received the health and environment award. The Seine-et-Marne club has indeed taught its young daughters to eat better after finding that some of them do not eat breakfast, do not hydrate enough or are overweight. Their action consists in raising awareness among young redundant workers about the nutrition of athletes in order to modify their eating behavior. A booklet written by a nutritionist and a chef has been edited and distributed.

“We have a role that goes beyond sport. We must take responsibility for other areas such as citizenship, health and the environment, says Jean-Baptiste Appert, the manager of the women's soccer school. It is always rewarding to receive such an award. This teamwork was carried out with parents and partners. Thanks to these actions, our young girls feel better about themselves and perform better on the field. "

Among professionals, Marseille was rewarded for 2 of its social actions: #OM Volontariat which allows each employee of the club to get involved with an association and FC La Castellane, a neighborhood club created by OM to help young people playing football and supporting them socially.
