If PSG players have to wait until Friday noon before knowing the identity of their opponent in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Thiago Silva and his gang, however, now know which sparring partners they will put themselves in condition before playing the cleaver matches of this curious end of the 2019-2020 season.
All were already informed that their first opposition from the “next world” would take place at the Océane stadium in Le Havre, Sunday at 7 p.m. Their first friendly test will look like a historic meeting. Although it was the only major nation in Western Europe to put an end to its domestic competitions, France will be the first to reopen its stands to the public since the day after the lifting of the state of emergency 5,000 spectators were allowed to attend the meeting.
A gauge that could also be used during the two other friendly meetings scheduled at the Parc des Princes. The first, scheduled for Friday July 17 at 7 p.m., will see the Parisians face the Belgian team from Waasland-Beveren. While negotiations had started with the Shamrock Rovers, the Irish were ultimately not allowed to go back and forth without going through the fortnight and therefore gave up the trip.
No change, however, for the second match scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. since it is the Scots from Celtic Glasgow who will offer the last friendly opposition before the Coupe de France finals against Saint-Etienne on July 24 (8:55 p.m.) and of the League Cup on 31 (20.55) against Lyon.
But to prepare for the Final 8 of the Champions League to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, PSG could play a fourth friendly match. The club is thus studying the possibility of playing on Wednesday 5 August against an opponent and in a stadium which have not yet been determined.
