The AS Saint-Etienne training center finds itself at the heart of a case that could seriously damage the image of the club. L'Equipe revealed on Saturday evening that a hazing had gone very badly within the youth sections of the Ligue 1 formation on July 24.
That day, ASSE faced Paris SG in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue. The young green hopes would have met at the Robert-Herbin sports center to follow the meeting event but the meeting degenerated. The older players in the center would have taken this opportunity to hazel the younger ones. While this initiation rite usually consists of having to sing in front of his teammates while climbing on a chair, two teenagers have this time been subjected to violence even being "beaten".
Victim of concussion, the two hopes were not hospitalized but several days after the facts, they would have entrusted their "malaise" to the educators. An internal investigation was carried out by the management of the club who confirmed the incidents in a statement, calling the facts "unacceptable."
Two young people from the training center summoned and fired
"Fourth best training center according to the latest ranking of the FFF, the club cannot tolerate inappropriate acts and contrary to the values inscribed in its sports project of excellence allowing many young players to integrate the professional group", denounced the Stéphanois club specifying that two residents suspected of being at the origin of this violence were summoned to an interview prior to a possible sanction and laid off as a precaution. “A third was temporarily suspended. Faced with the supposed seriousness of the incidents which were reported to it, ASSE also lodged a complaint ”, add the Greens.
The #ASSE has been informed of unacceptable facts that allegedly occurred within its training center.
The club cannot tolerate acts that are inappropriate and contrary to the values enshrined in its sports project of excellence.
