2020-08-03T18:43:29.718Z

Gaël Perdriau did not taste at all the exit of Bernard Caïazzo on the supposed lack of attractiveness of Saint-Etienne for potential investors interested in the takeover of ASSE.

“I'll say it frankly, we have a small handicap. For those who know football, Saint-Etienne is a great capital. But for those who do not know it, to choose between Bordeaux, Nice and Saint-Etienne, it is certain that the Riviera or the wines of Bordeaux present more attractions (…) This is why our priority is to chat with people who know football. ” This analysis signed Bernard Caïazzo in the columns of Progress on  Tuesday about a possible sale of AS Saint-Etienne, did not please the town hall of the prefecture of the Loire.

"One can wonder what was the money of the sale of these players used for?"

Adrien Perdriau

In a message posted on Facebook , Gaël Perdriau responds to the chairman of the supervisory board of the Greens. "So if ASSE does not find investors, it is because the city lacks" prestige "according to Bernard Caïazzo ... It is perhaps also because few investors agree to pay more than 50 % of the shares by being a minority in voting rights ... Or that the sale of nuggets to derive short-term profits have harmed the building of a great team over time (Aubameyang, Payet, Maupay, Saint Maximin, Matuidi, Ghoulam, Malcuit, Saliba, Bamba, Zouma ... and so on). As many players that we let go and who explode in their club today. Besides, one may wonder what the money from the sale of these players was used for? We have not seen the sporting benefits ”, writes the mayor of Saint-Etienne since 2014.

"The" prestige "of Nice does not improve the talent of its club which has won nothing since 1997 or of Bordeaux since 2009 ... When an investor bets on a club, on its image, its state of mind, this greatly exceeds the economic potential of the city. Konica-Minolta (former sponsor of the club, Editor's note) in 2004 did not hope to sell more photocopiers in Saint-Etienne! When a team has such a record, that it keeps the soul of its city and that it wins ... it attracts! ”, Estimates the city councilor.

“Saint-Etienne is a city and therefore a popular club, with a soul. It does not have a price. Especially not that of a certain bourgeoisie ”

Gaël Perdriau

"I agree on one point with Bernard Caïazzo, which is that Saint-Etienne is more than a club ... And he deserves better than just an investor who comes for his glory and his wallet. The defense of the image of a city and its inseparable football club must be done at all levels, and not to pocket the jackpot. It's true, Saint-Etienne is a city and therefore a popular club, with a soul. It does not have a price. Especially not that of a certain bourgeoisie. Let's go Green ! All over. Always ”, concludes Gaël Perdriau.

“There is not a week or someone serious, or not, inquires (for a possible redemption). It's simple, everything happens first by lawyer. We do not publicize. Our lawyers are responsible for analyzing the seriousness of our interlocutors. We were very, very close to succeeding a year ago with an American group. No one has ever known the name of the group because of the rule of confidentiality, had specified in  Le Progrès  Bernard Caïazzo. We are looking more for a minority investor at first to see how it goes for a few years. But we have to think about the future. We are not immortal with Roland (Romeyer, president of the board of ASSE). Thinking about the future is protecting the institution ”. An institution visibly watched very closely by the mayor of the city of Chaudron.
