A terrible crash punctuated the final sprint of the first stage of the Tour of Poland, in Katowice, on Wednesday. The responsibility for this lies with the Dutch sprinter Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma), who obviously crushed against the barriers his compatriot Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step) who was bringing him up to his right.

Jakobsen was reportedly transported conscious to hospital. Several other competitors suffered a less serious fall, including Groenewegen himself as well as the French Marc Sarreau (Groupama-FDJ) and Damien Touzé. On Twitter, Patrick Lefevere, manager of the Quick Step-Deceuninck team, suggested that Groenewegen - disqualified by the organizers - go to jail for his irresponsible behavior. The classification of the stage has not been formalized.
