Washington-SANA
American tennis star Serena Williams, 38, announced her intention to participate in the US Open "Flushing Meadows", scheduled for the end of August.
Sky Sports quoted Williams as saying in a tweet on its official Twitter page today, "I see myself able to compete if things go as hoped."
Several stars recently announced their withdrawal from the US Open, led by world number one Ashley Parti and Spain's Rafael Nadal, the defending champion.
Flushing Meadows will be held without fans and in a strict precautionary atmosphere due to the emerging Corona virus, while players fear that they will be quarantined upon their return to Europe.
