"I decided not to take part in the US Open this year because I would not feel comfortable traveling to New York and exposing myself and my team to any unnecessary risk given the high Covid-19 numbers in the US ", the 31-year-old from Bad Oldesloe at Sport1.
The USA is one of the countries most severely affected by the corona pandemic. The US Open, the first Grand Slam tournament after the forced Corona break, is planned from August 31 to September 13.
Görges also said that there are still many questions unanswered about a possible quarantine after returning to Europe from the USA.
