Tonight in questions to the media at the training camp in Switzerland, the director of sports affairs, Michael Zurk , said: "We are planning the next season with Gideon Sancho. He will play for us next season. The decision is absolute and final. I think it answers all the questions on the subject." Zurk also confirmed that Borussia Dortmund had secretly extended Sancho's contract last season until 2023, apparently for a significantly higher amount than he had until then. One of the implications of this contract extension is of course the fact that Borussia Dortmund will not be under pressure to sell the Englishman next summer either as he will not be up for a final season contract. Prior to signing last summer, Sancho's contract was until 2022 so a situation could have arisen where he was facing a final season on the contract and the team was obliged to sell him so he would not leave without consideration.
According to reports in Germany, Sancho will not be left empty-handed and will receive a significant upgrade in his contract if he does stay for another season at Borussia Dortmund.
