Chelsea will step up efforts to sign Kai Habaretz in the coming days after Leverkusen, the talented midfielder's side were knocked out last night (Monday) in the Europa League quarter-finals by Inter. The Blues wanted to move forward in negotiations already after securing a place in the Champions League next season but Leverkusen delayed the talks because they wanted to avoid distractions on the players before the meeting against the Italians.
Peter Cech, Chelsea's technical director, is in talks with Habretz who has expressed a desire to join Frank Lampard's squad when Leverkusen are expected to demand around £ 75m for him.
Lampard has already signed Ajax's extremist Hakim Zaisch and Germany and Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer so the addition of another player in the form of Habertz will make the Blues serious candidates to fight for the Premier League title next season.
Apart from Habretz, Chelsea are also looking for a left-back when, according to reports in the kingdom, there are 3 main candidates: Ben Chillwell Malster, Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax and Sergio Regilon, who is on loan from Real Madrid to Sevilla.
