The gesture is now well known: the kneeling as a sign against racism. The pros from Wolverhampton and Sevilla also showed him before their Europa League quarter-finals. The Spaniards then won with a late goal.

Record winners FC Sevilla have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. The Spaniards prevailed 1-0 (0-0) against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final tournament in Duisburg and will now meet England's record champions Manchester United, who defeated FC Copenhagen on Monday (9 p.m.) in Cologne.

The decisive goal for the Spaniards, who triumphed a total of five times in the Europa League or in the previous Uefa Cup competition, scored Lucas Ocampos in the 88th minute. Wolverhampton was last in the quarter-finals of a European competition in the 1971/72 season, when the club lost in the Uefa Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur.

The players had set an example against racism before their quarter-final duel in the Europa League. The footballers of both teams went to the ground with one knee each immediately before the game kicked off in Duisburg on Tuesday evening. Referee Daniele Orsato from Italy joined the gesture.

Shakhtar Donetsk also made it to the semi-finals. The Ukrainian soccer champions beat FC Basel in the quarter-finals 4-1 (2-0). Donetsk will face Inter Milan on August 17th (9pm) in Düsseldorf, who defeated Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.

In the Schalker Arena, Junior Moraes (2nd) scored the early opening goal for Donetsk after a corner. Taison's shot (22nd) was unhappy with Basel's Fabian Frei with his knee into his own goal. Alan Patrick (75th / foul penalty) and Dodo (88th) increased. Ricky van Wolfswinkel (90th + 2) scored for Basel.

Donetsk was clearly superior over long stretches and determined the game against the Swiss, in which the former Bundesliga coach Marcel Koller sat in the coaching bench.
