Should a German soccer team reach the final of the Champions League, ZDF will broadcast the game live from Lisbon on 23 August. The broadcaster agreed on this with the European Football Union Uefa and the rights holders Sky and DAZN before the start of the final tournament on Wednesday in Lisbon. The German teams FC Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are represented in the quarter-finals.
"We keep our fingers crossed for Bayern and Leipzig for the final tournament and are happy if we can offer our viewers high-quality live football. A German-German final like 2013 would be great," said sports director Thomas Fuhrmann in a message from ZDF.
However, if the Champions League final takes place without German participation, it will not be broadcast by ZDF. No agreement could be reached in this constellation.
