A huge turnaround in the West's fights for a place in the NBA playoffs: Portland rose to eighth place tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday), after another great performance by Damien Lillard and a win over Dallas. Memphis, which lost to Boston, remained in ninth place, while Phoenix and San Antonio maintained a chance to participate in a mini-tournament in which it will be decided who will receive the eighth ticket to the post-season and face the Lakers in the first round.

What else is left to say about Damien Lillard? The Portland star has once again proved why he is considered one of the NBA's big winners, and no penalty foul will change that. After sniping 51 points in a win over Philadelphia, Dame took another step forward knowing a win would complete a makeover for the Blazers and place them eighth in the West at the expense of Memphis. It ended with 61 points - equal to a career high - including 17 of 32 from the field, 9 of 17 from three, 8 assists and also 5 rebounds. Lillard and his teammates did not receive any gifts from Luka Doncic's band, but persevered after a close last quarter. Now the Blazers need a win against Brooklyn between Thursday and Friday, which will bring them to the domestic tournament with the ninth ranked in a position of power, and when they need only one win to advance to the playoffs and meet the Lakers in the first round. Aside from Lillard, Carmelo Anthony also continued his good ability in the bubble as he buried 26 points alongside 8 rebounds. The Mavericks got 36 points from Kristaps Forzingis and 25, 10 assists and 8 rebounds from Luka Doncic.

Without Marcus Aldridge, with his back to the wall, Greg Popovic and San Antonio may be able to do it again: with their third straight win, they were left alone from Memphis' eighth in the West and kept a chance - albeit low - of advancing to the playoffs for the 23rd year in a row. The Spurs made good use of the rest that Mike D'Antoni gave to James Harden, and fled to a double-digit lead in the second quarter after which they did not look back. Caldon Johnson was the X Factor when he led San Antonio with 24 points alongside 11 rebounds from the bench, Damar Drusen contributed 23 and 6 rebounds, and Russell Westbrook with 20 and 6 assists did not prevent a loss from the Rockets who had already secured fourth place.

An unimportant game between two teams that already know where they will end the season - Orlando Eighth, Brooklyn Seventh. The Nets have continued their successful momentum with a third straight win and a fifth in their last six games, and at that pace they are set to make a tough life for Toronto II in the playoffs.
