      * In the Champions League final this season, at least one team that has never played in it will play: Paris Saint-Germain or R.B. Leipzig. This is the second year in a row that this is happening after Tottenham were in the final last year. This is the first time this has happened since 1991 and 1992 when the Red Star Belgrade met Marseille and a year later Sampdoria reached the final

      * Tyler Adams, who scored the dramatic winning goal in the 88th minute, is the first American to score in the Champions League quarter-finals and above.

      * R.B. Leipzig is the first team from what was the Eastern Bloc of Europe to advance to the Champions League semi-finals since Dynamo Kiev in 1999.

      * R.B. Leipzig is the fifth German team ever to advance to the Champions League semi-finals. It was preceded by Bayern Munich (11 times), Borussia Dortmund (3), Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke (1 each).

      * R.B. Leipzig, founded in 2009, is the youngest team ever to advance to the Champions League semi-finals / Champions League.

      * Danny Ulmo, who scored the first goal, became the second to score for two different teams in the same season in the Champions League. Arling Holland, who did it in Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, preceded him.

      * 33-year-old Julian Naglesman is two years younger than Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva, whom his team will face in the semi-finals.

Leipzig coach Julian Naglesman said: "We did not create a lot of situations in the first half, but we defended very well. You did not get many situations in the last third against Atletico. Our attacking game made the difference today. Atletico did not get many situations and we created more. Obviously when you come "For the next round, you want more. Tonight we are happy, tomorrow we will start looking at Paris Saint-Germain. It will be another difficult game, but we will have a plan."

Naglesman added: "We were the better team, so we deserve to reach the semi-finals and I am happy. We wanted to play the way we always play. The players felt comfortable with the plan. We created spaces between the lines and it is not easy against Atletico. In the second half we were a bit passive after our goal. "After we absorbed the goal we recovered and the second goal was with a bit of luck, but we created a lot of space for Tyler Adams . It's something we work on in training, I'm glad the players listened to me and were able to produce things on the pitch."

Tyler Adams said after the game: "We'm really, really excited. We know Paris Saint-Germain are a great team, we saw what they did against Atlanta yesterday and they have great players. Now we have to recover in the best way possible and get ourselves mentally right into the semi-finals. "We are confident in ourselves and you saw it today."

Coca : "I am stunned and broken. In this format of three games up to the title we could have won the Champions League, and not even made it to the quarter-finals. Cruel? The victory has come to them. We need to analyze the game and do some self-criticism. We need to recover from this loss as soon as possible."

Seoul complimented the Germans: "Leipzig showed superiority over us in quite a few parts of the game. They played very well. You also have to know how to give the credit to the opponent."
