District - Last weekend in Braunschweig, the athletics elite of adults competed at the German championships. It will be a few years for 13-year-old Magdalena David from Emmering before she can compete there herself. From week to week she proves that she has the potential to be one of Germany's best. So now again at the Munich Challenge Meeting in the state capital.

Although David still belongs to the class of youth W13, she has already started in the higher - and thus one year older - youth W14 for a few weeks. In the wake of the Corona crisis, there are currently hardly any or no competitions for their age group on offer. But the switch and at the same time the challenge of taking on older and more experienced athletes has so far hardly proven to be a disadvantage for the Emmeringer. Although she has to tackle longer distances, higher hurdles and heavier throwing weights, she manages one podium after another.

You achieve a Bavarian best of the year

In the Dante Stadium in Munich, she again proved that she belongs to the Bavarian elite in the youth W14. So she won over 80 meter hurdles with a remarkable 12.33 seconds. The run was the Bavarian best time of the year and a new personal record for the young athlete over the 76 centimeter high obstacles. The 13-year-old moves up to fifth place in the current German annual best list. Michelle Otto from SC Magdeburg is at the top with 11.89 seconds. In her triumph in Munich, David was over a meter ahead of Lara Jovanovic from TuS Traunreut.

In the high jump, the versatile athlete also reserved victory with a height of 1.55 meters. She was also the first to achieve a top result in the long jump final ahead of Lara Wagner from DJK Ingolstadt: With a result of 5.34 meters, she is currently the best Bavarian of the season here too: With her new best she is pushing herself in Germany to seventh place. The German number one Sol Gelitz from GSV Eintracht Baunatal (5.72 meters) is still a few centimeters missing.

David's club mate Lilli Mahner recorded her best result in the javelin throw: with 26.36 meters, she secured second place. For FC Puchheim, the jersey of LG Würm Athletics Ronja Hinterding proved herself: In the final javelin fight of the female U18 youth, she managed 37.79 meters and was third in the well-known competition.
