Penzberg - In the middle of summer you don't really expect any title fights in the hall. In futsal, the German champions will be determined this week. Ten teams, including SSV Jahn Regensburg Futsal with Philipp Ropers from Dießen (we reported) and defending champion TSV Weilimdorf, both opponents of FC Penzberg in the Regionalliga Süd, will fight for championship honors in the Wedau sports school in Duisburg.

The league should start again from October. Preparations are already underway at Final Cut Pro. Some personal decisions have already been made for last year's promoted team, who ended the season in seventh place. Maximilian Kalus and Marco Hiry, who acted as player-coaches, can concentrate exclusively on what is happening on the field in the future. With Fatih Topcu (FC Grün-Weiß Ingolstadt) the Penzbergers get a new coach. Maximilian Berwein, Suheil Amadodin, Davor Antunovic and Mustafa Menzil will no longer appear for FCP in the future. Talks with newcomers are already underway. “There's more to be said in the next few weeks,” explains Kalus. The Penzbergers have already received a promise: Keeper Christian Utmälleki from FC Deisenhofen is moving to Penzberg. "He's a great futsal goalkeeper, so we're very happy that he comes to us," says Kalus, who was one of the temporary keepers in the first ten games last season, as the Penzbergers had to play without a trained goalkeeper.

A lot will also change in the regional league. It will be increased from ten to 13 teams. However, there are no more match days. "We only play once against each opponent with six home and six away games," reports Kalus. The division of who the Penzbergers will compete against at home or abroad is done by the South German Football Association. It will be a while before the training of the Penzberg Futsaler, whose dream is to play for the German championship, begins. rh
