Spielberg / Vilgertshofen - Since the restart of Moto2, things haven't been going smoothly for Marcel Schrötter at all. A fall at the opening race in Jerez, Spain, was followed by a tenth and a 15th place. Before the last race, the Vilgertshofener had an operation on his forearm to get pressure out of his muscles. In Spielberg, Austria, Schrötter wants to find his way back to old strength this weekend.

"After the disappointing outcome of the race weekend in Brno, I am incredibly happy that it will continue right away," says the 27-year-old. “I'm really looking forward to the races in Spielberg. I think the entire team and myself want to finally prove that we can do better than we showed last Sunday. ”After a good qualifying and a strong initial phase, Schrötter dropped from fifth to 15th in the Czech Republic. “However, we don't yet know exactly what was actually going on in the last race,” he explains.

Slimming down for higher top speed

For the Austrian Grand Prix, which starts on Sunday at 12.20 p.m., Schrötter is nevertheless optimistic and highly motivated. “This Grand Prix is another home game for me, even if no spectators are allowed to attend this time,” says the Kalex driver. However, the route also has its peculiarities. “At the Red Bull Ring you have to feel extremely comfortable on the brakes in order to be able to brake as late as possible. But in the corners you also need a great feeling for the front, because you simply drive so much over the front wheel, ”he explains the subtleties.

The driver of the Memmingen team "Liqui Moly Intact GP" has something completely different in mind. “I'm trying to lose two or three kilograms,” he reveals. "That would certainly be extremely advantageous in terms of the top speed that is in demand." Otherwise, Schrötter feels in top shape and super comfortable. So there are good signs that he will really make it into the season after the restart. pp
