Lisbon (AP) - Bayern coach Hansi Flick wants to beat FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League final tournament in Lisbon with the team that was last successful in the second leg of the second leg against FC Chelsea.
The Croatian Ivan Perisic, who was one of the goalscorers in the 4-1 win against London, is preferred to Kingsley Coman on the left wing. The Frenchman was missing against Chelsea, but is ready for action again, as Flick reported at the press conference. Coman, like the Brazilian Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona, is initially on the bench.
"Ivan played very well against Chelsea," Flick justified his decision before the game on Sky TV. Every player in the squad knows "what it's about and everyone wants to show it on the pitch". FC Bayern have "big goals," said Flick. "And it is part of our winning this game."
Defenders Jérôme Boateng and Alphonso Davies, who were also battered in the run-up, are expected to start in Munich on Friday evening in the empty Estádio da Luz. Joshua Kimmich will again take the right-back position for world champion Benjamin Pavard who is not yet ready for action again. Bayern also want to move into the semi-finals one day after RB Leipzig.
FC Barcelona starts without the French soccer world champion Antoine Griezmann. Coach Quique Setién only offers two strikers in the final tournament of the premier class. In addition to superstar Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez is in the starting line-up. Former Munich Arturo Vidal is also used in the midfield, which has been expanded to four players.
