SC Kirchdorf had their backs to the wall on the last matchday in 1993. Relegation to the B-Class threatened. But the SC was still able to take control.

Kirchdorf - SC Kirchdorf had a subscription to playoffs in the early 90s. In 1990, coach Günther Weiss' team was finally relegated from the A-class after three games. A 0: 1 against SV Pulling was followed by a 4: 0 against SC Baldham and a 2: 3 against FC Croatia. Two years later, the team - trained by Dieter Fuchs - managed to rise again. They kept the upper hand in the playoff for the championship in the B-class against SV Hörgertshausen (2-1). And in 1993 the Ampertaler were again involved in a series of four encounters.

SC Kirchdorf on the way to the B-Class?

It all started with the fact that at the end of the season three teams were tied on the relegation place of the A-class. FC Eintracht Freising, SC Kirchdorf and FC Lengdorf hoped at the draw to be able to play the first game. A win would be enough for any team to stay in the league. The lucky ones were first of all the Lengdorfer who won the match against SC Kirchdorf 3-1. Dieter Fuchs' team had no chance four days later against FC Eintracht (had drawn the bye) in the 1: 4 defeat in Zolling. The lark fields around their coach Hans Haas were thus saved, Kirchdorf had to go into relegation and now needed two victories to stay in the league.

The first opponent was TSV Nandlstadt, who had finished the season behind FCA Unterbruck in second place in the B class. The names in the Nandlstadt team should also say something to those who were not so strongly connected to the club. TSV played with the brothers Sepp and Günther Weiß as well as Christian Berndl. Sepp Weiß was currently in command as coach, and Günther was to take over the following year. The only question now was in which league. The commitment of the European Cup winner had caused irritation, which culminated in a serious house crash and the migration of some players during the winter break.

The miracle of SC Kirchdorf

The game in front of 1200 spectators started as most people expected. The Nandlstädter took over command, the Kirchdorfer, mentally and physically battered by two defeats, were always one step behind. Sinan Tas and Christian Berndl scored 2-0 before Kirchdorf shortened through Herbert Haller. But Sebastian Wagner had already restored the two-goal lead for the B-class runner-up in just three minutes. Most of the fans didn't give a damn to the SCK, but amazing things happened, also because coach Fuchs intervened positively with changes. Johann Maier converted a penalty kick, and in the 72nd minute Edgar Thalhammer dusted off to 3: 3. Suddenly nothing more was to be seen of a great routine and serenity of the experienced Nandlstadt defense line. On the contrary: individual mistakes crept in. And two minutes before the final whistle followed the final knockout for the Nandlstädter when Johann Maier was there after a corner and marked the winning goal.

SC Kirchdorf wins the relegation

In the fourth game in just two weeks, FC Schwaig waited for the Kirchdorfer.
Roland Götzinger's team finished second in the B-Class Erding behind TSV Rot-Weiß Klettham. However, the Schwaiger had little to oppose the good morale of the Kirchdorfer. The Ampertaler won 3-1 in front of 650 spectators in Langenpreising with goals from Maier, Franz Kronthaler and Edgar Thalhammer and thus remained in the A-Class.
