Sunday, 16 August 2020, 12:19The Italian newspaper "Totosport" yesterday (Saturday) reduced the list of candidates for the "Golden Boy" from 100 to 60 and of course in the title race there are still big names like Arling Holland, Jadon Sancho, Alfonso Davis and Anso Patti. Among all the dozens of famous names, including Phil Foden, Rodrigo, Vinicius and Mason Greenwood, there is also one born in Israel, Giorgi Citiashvili by name.
Giorgi is of course the son of Klimanti Citiashvili, who was signed in the summer of 2000 by Maccabi Tel Aviv, but was immediately loaned to Hapoel Rishon Lezion and scored 12 goals in the 2000/01 season, in which the Oranges finished as usual in 9th place. Clementi continued for short periods in Bnei Yehuda and Tzafririm Holon and his son actually made his first steps in Israel. Later the father played for a few years in Cyprus, but the family established its settlement in Kiev.
A Georgian who plays as an extremist, grew up in the Dynamo Kiev academy and although he also holds Georgian citizenship, he represented Ukraine in all youth teams and was one of the most prominent players in the surprising and historic win of the World Cup until June 20, 2019. Among other things he scored a goal in 1: 3 over South Korea in the final.
The season started to accumulate more and more minutes in the senior team of Dynamo Kiev and his performance was enough for the editors of "Totosport" to put him on a very prestigious list, which includes players who constitute the future of world football.

The "Golden Boy" is an award given to "the best player in Europe under the age of 21" since 2003. The selection is made by "Totosport", but is attended by journalists from the media in Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Portugal, UK, Russia, Greece And the Netherlands.
