Former Israeli national team coach Avraham Grant, who was a candidate for a second term at Abba Hillel, was interviewed tonight (Sunday) on the 103FM sports program, and told what he thought of the search committee, which ultimately chose Willi Rotensteiner for the position.

"I was ready to coach the Israeli team," Grant said of the selection process, "I believed that if I wanted to coach the team, I thought things would be welcome. "They announced that they had decided the opposite, that the technical coach would be the coach. They said it was after deep thought, so I guess they sat on it for 48 hours. I wanted to come back because I thought it was an unusual opportunity."

"It was no secret, I wanted to coach the Israeli team at this stage, but it did not come to that at all. I was not approached at all. The processes need to be done more seriously, you can learn how things were done in Iceland or Germany."

Asked if he would agree to coach the team at the next opportunity, Grant replied: "Right now, I do not know what will happen until January, this whole procedure made me think ... For the last 15 years I did not want to come back here, because I am a process man. "I just came after many years because I thought there was an opportunity here and it did not happen and I continue on my way. I am not hurt or disappointed, I just think the team is much more serious and decisions have to be made after deep thought."

"I think we need to learn from teams like Iceland. It is safe to say that in my campaign we faced teams much stronger than us equally and not just in one game, that's why I think it was an opportunity to do it again."
