Berlin (dpa) - Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) is currently ruling out further easing in football.
According to information from the German Press Agency from participants in the first virtual CDU presidium meeting after the summer break, Merkel said that there could currently be no further easing due to the increasing number of corona infections. This also applies to football games.
The health ministers of the federal states had previously agreed that the stadiums should not be open to fans until at least October 31, given the current corona situation. The German Football League had accepted the provisional rejection of politicians after developing a concept for partial admission of viewers at the beginning of the 2020/21 season on the third weekend in September. This initially provides for the return of a reduced number of fans without standing room, without alcohol and without guest trailers.
