Garching - Bavaria's amateur footballers are preparing for the restart after the corona lockdown, but it is already clear what shaky feet the structure is on. Regional league team VfR Garching actually wanted to test against league rivals FC Ingolstadt II at the weekend, but the game was canceled due to corona cases with the opponent.

And behind the scenes, the Regionalliga still has tricky questions to answer. A pure problem for Garching are the three points lost on the green table because Türkgücü rose. Assessments by lawyers make it clear that the decisive question will be whether the association can change its statutes in the current round. VfR President Uwe Cygan will have to decide in the next few days whether the club will take legal action. A general decision of all regional leagues will be the question of ghost games. "That boils down to a vote," says Garching's sports director Ludwig Trifellner about the major differences of opinion.

Meanwhile there are proponents of ghost games without an audience, while one can hear from audience-Croesus Schalding-Heining that one will not play without an audience. “We can't afford the league without spectators, but neither can we,” jokes Trifellner. Requirements for games with fans are difficult to cope with, because the data has to be recorded by everyone in the stadium and a significantly larger number of folders has to ensure that the distances are maintained in the stands. An association supported by volunteers like the VfR could hardly do that.

Then there are the finances, because the regional league clubs continue to have costs for players and referees, but no income. The regional league clubs expect increased expenses due to the travel regulations. "We'd have to go to away games in two coaches or nine minibuses," says Ludwig Trifellner.

In view of the increasing likelihood of ghost games, these framework conditions make him very worried. Also with regard to the test game against Ingolstadt, which was canceled due to positive tests, Trifellner says “that everything is very fragile. I cannot imagine that we will be able to play football with spectators again on September 5th. ”Trifellner doubts the restart, but is now hoping for the further preparation games. Garching is planning games on Friday against Karlsfeld and on Saturday against Schwabmünchen.
