One of the scariest bike accidents we’ve seen happened a few days ago, when the Belgian Remano Owenpol fell off a bridge during a race in Italy. The 20-year-old Belgian, who is considered one of the most talented riders in the world, was rushed to a hospital in Como and then flown back to his homeland, for further treatment. He is reportedly suffering from a pelvic crisis and a healthy hole, and will no longer compete this year. "I'm just glad he's alive," said his coach, Patrick Lefebvre.

I could not answer all the messages because there were lots but I saw everything and the support helped me. "My team and I are thinking positively about next season. At the moment we will go slowly and do everything we can to get a better and stronger rider back than before."

"Such a crash can be scary and leave someone traumatized," said former rider Bradley Wiggins, "but when you're so young, you think less about the risks. It's sure to undermine him."
