This was announced by his club FC Barcelona and put the downtime at about two and a half months. The former Gladbacher, who had multiple problems with his right knee in the past season, underwent an operation on the patellar tendon.
The goalkeeper had to undergo an operation on the patellar tendon in his right knee four days after the 2: 8 debacle in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. Ter Stegen had played 46 competitive games for Barcelona this season and had 15 games without conceding a goal.
"I will need a few weeks to recover and come back 100 percent," Ter Stegen wrote on Twitter on Monday evening before the operation: "I'm calm and positive about the situation, I'll be back soon."
For the next international matches of the team of national coach Joachim Löw on September 3rd against Spain in Stuttgart, on September 6th in Basel against Switzerland, on October 7th in Cologne against Turkey, on October 10th in Ukraine and on September 13th in Basel against Switzerland. October against Switzerland in Cologne, the Barça keeper is not available.
