New era in Barcelona: Ronald Koeman was appointed today (Wednesday) as expected to the new coach of the team in place of Kika Stein. The agreement was reached after the Catalans agreed with the Dutch association on compensation to release the contract of the Dutch national team coach, under which Barcelona is expected to pay between 4 and 5 million euros.
Koeman, who signed for two years until the summer of 2022, will bring with him an interesting team. Alfred Sakharoder, a former Ajax assistant coach and one who admitted that he recently received an offer to coach Maccabi Tel Aviv, will be his senior assistant following warm recommendations from Frankie de Jong. Another interesting name that might join the team is former club player Henrik Larsson.

Koeman will immediately begin the construction work of the team that is expected to go through extreme shocks in the squad and apart from Messi, Ter Stegen, De Jong and Langela the status of no player is guaranteed for next season, including top players like Gerard Pique, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba. The 57-year-old Koeman, who as a player brought to Barcelona its first win of the European Champions Cup with the winning goal in the 1992 final against Sampdoria, recorded a total of 192 appearances as a player at the Catalan club. Koeman, who has been successfully coaching the Netherlands national team since 2018, began his coaching career as an assistant coach in both the Netherlands and Barcelona. He then began his career as head coach and managed to coach Vitesse, Ajax, Benfica, PSV, Valencia, Alkmaar, Feyenoord, Southampton and Everton.
Earlier today, Barcelona announced that Sharon Planes will replace Eric Avidel as the team's technical director. Planes served as Avidel's aide, who, according to President Bartomeu, left the post of his own free will.
