More drama is not possible. FC Neufahrn missed the BOL promotion against 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1995 after a pitiful penalty shoot-out.

Neufahrn- FC Neufahrn has already played in the district league for three years. In the final placements, a steady upward development was visible, which had already started at the beginning of the 90s and now ended up two classes higher in the march from the B-Class. In 1993, after being promoted from the A-class under the then coach Josef Wiesheu, they were fourth, and even third in 1994 for the first time under Hans Peter Alt, and a year later the eleven finished second, just two points behind champions FSV Pfaffenhofen. The Neufahrner had clearly distanced the district competition - SVA Palzing (5th), SC Freising (7th) and SV Kranzberg (11th). With a 9-1 win over SV Nord, the team of player-coach Hans Peter Alt (came from BSG Taufkirchen in 1993, was a player with the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich from 1984 to 89) warmed up for the relegation. How strong Master Pfaffenhofen was until the end, SC Freising had to experience on the last match day. The Hallertauer won against the promoted 9: 2.

FC Neufahrn: Relegation to the regional league against 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen in front of 1,500 spectators

The FCN now wanted to climb the next level via relegation. At that time, the district had no district upper division club, TSV Eching played in the regional league. Neufahrn's opponent was Garmisch-Partenkirchen FC, trained by Rudi Brunnenmeier, a lion legend from the successful 1960s.

The caravan from the district towards Pöcking was enormous. It was a public holiday and the Neufahrner had a good 900 fans in tow. Around 1500 spectators in total were given a hectic, but also dramatic 120 minutes, and an ending that no one had ever experienced in this way - but with a very unfortunate outcome from Neufahrner's point of view.

FC Neufahrn: Knipser Majstorovic and Warmuth meet

With their team unity, the Neufahrner outweighed the disadvantage of the better individual players on the Garmisch side. Robert Wiesheu took care of ex-Bundesliga kicker Jürgen Täuber and did a very good job. In the middle of the first half, the Garmisch team suddenly hit the bar - a kind of wake-up call for the opponent. Gerhard Pillmayer crossed in, and there was Neufahrn's goal machine Stipo Majstorovic, who turned his head into the lead. And who knows: If Toni Warmuth hadn't carelessly missed the chance to make it 2-0, the new drivers might have been spared the following drama. So Garmisch came to equalize through their storm ace Alex Bernstein. The 1: 1 was held after 90, but also after 120 minutes.

FC Neufahrn awards four match balls in the 911

A penalty shoot-out had to decide in which the Neufahrner had four match points to victory and awarded four times. When Garmisch's goalkeeper Hannes Benkert met his team's tenth shooter, the FCN disaster had happened.

After five shooters it was 3: 3. Schnurrer, Christian Stöger, Majstorovic had scored, alt and goalkeeper order could have ended the matter, but nothing came of it, also because order came into the ground.

And it got even disgusting from Neufahrner's point of view. Joachim Stöger also had the chance to make a decision, but heaved the leather over the beam. Then the endurance runner Wiesheu failed at the goalkeeper, again the chance to advance was lost. And when the Garmisch goalkeeper also blocked the shot from Stifti Eckardt and hit himself, the fate of Neufahrn was finally sealed. The Neufahrner could not believe what had happened at first, coaches and officials did not want to say a word about the game. Only the players were there to answer questions and already showed a kind of defiant reaction. It turned out that the FCN had a team with format and character, which two years later would pay off.
