Föching / Schliersee - A big name is waiting for the handball players of HSG Föching Schliersee in the coming season in district class 3: The team of coaches Carmen Theer and Michael Hahn will meet FC Bayern Munich, among others. That was the result of the division into leagues by the Bavarian Handball Association (BHV).

"Playing against Bayern is always nice," says Hahn with a smile. Even if it's only the fourth team. Bayern are also a new opponent, as are almost all the teams in the league. "We are now in the Munich group, before we were in the Chiemgau," explains Hahn. Accordingly, the coaching team lacks prior knowledge from past encounters. With the exception of SVN Munich and Kirchheimer SC, the Föchinger and Schlierseer play exclusively against reserve teams after their voluntary relegation from the district league. “You should never underestimate them,” Hahn emphasizes. Nevertheless, he sees good chances “that we will play well”. And so you also get some victories, which the HSG was not allowed to do in the difficult preseason.

The BHV is planning the start of the season for mid-October, but nothing has been fixed yet. That is why Hahn does not dare to predict whether and when it will be played. Which plays into the cards of the Föchingern and Schlierseern. Because so far the training possibilities have been difficult due to the still largely closed halls. “We haven't trained properly. The guys did a bit of fitness, ”explains Hahn. Due to the late start of the season, this is not a problem: “Six weeks of intensive preparation from September would have to be right.” But for this the HSG players also have to be able to train in the hall - and not, like the youth, on the Föchinger sports field. It is also unclear where the home games can be played.

Hahn cannot and does not want to name a specific goal in the table. On the one hand, because much of the planning is unclear. There are also “a few questions unanswered” in the BHV's hygiene concept. On the other hand, because it is not yet clear what the roster will ultimately look like with many students and shift workers. "We'll see that we can somehow get away with the trunk," says Hahn. The priority is that the team is kept alive, results are secondary.

Still, he hopes to be more successful than in the district league. Although the opponents from the Munich area are the third big unknown at least in the first half of the season.
