Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp, the English Premier League champions, announced today that midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will miss next week's Community Shield match against Arsenal, the FA Cup champion, after injuring his knee during training.
"We don't know how long the recovery period will take," Klopp told Liverpool's website.
The 27-year-old was injured in a fuse during the team's camp in Austria.
Liverpool said Chamberlain had returned to England to undergo a rehabilitation program.
The Community Shield match, which officially launches the start of the new season and brings together the champions of the League and the Federation Cup, will be held at Wembley Stadium on the 29th of this month.
