Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been arrested on the tourist island of Mykonos. According to corroborating sources, he is involved in a fight with tourists and was guilty of an assault on Greek police, we learned on Friday.

"Three British men, one of whom is a footballer for a British team, attacked police officers in the night from Thursday to Friday, slightly injuring four of them and were arrested, told AFP Petros Vassilakis, a police official from Syros, a nearby island. They will be presented to the Syros prosecutor on Friday afternoon, he added.

Manchester United have confirmed having knowledge of "an alleged incident in which Harry Maguire was involved last night (Editor's note: Thursday) in Mykonos".

The 27-year-old England defender "is fully cooperating with the Greek authorities," the club said in a statement reported by the Press Association agency. "At this stage, we are not going to make any additional comments," Manchester United said.
