Game four decided Luka Doncic, the super talent of the Mavericks, with a spectacular three-point throw at the end of extra time. The final score was 135: 133 (58:66) for Dallas, in the best-of-seven series it is now 2: 2.
After 48 minutes there was still no winner, Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard had given up the chance 1.3 seconds before the end of the game. The subsequent extension was turbulent, with a total of seven changes in leadership within five minutes. The game could have been decided much earlier, in the second quarter Los Angeles led with 21 points before Dallas started a run after half-time.
In all three main statistical categories, the 21-year-old Doncic achieved all-time highs in his young playoff career: the Slovenian player scored 43 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists. Doncic had to abandon the previous game due to an ankle injury, before the start of the fourth game his use was considered questionable.
The best scorer at the Clippers, who finished the regular season as the second best team in the West, was banker Lou Williams with 36 points, followed by Leonard, who contributed 32 points. Paul George, who is actually considered a star, experienced another debacle. In 14 attempts, he only hit three times and got nine points. Most recently, George had been similarly unsuccessful twice in a row.
