Heimstetten - Where Dirk Teschke works, attractive football is associated with success. That was also the case on Saturday when the soccer coach acted as head coach of a professional team for the first time. Assistant coach Dirk Teschke is currently responsible for third division champions FC Bayern II until the new head coach is official. The 7: 2 in Heimstetten had something for the man who once had to experience one of the craziest layoffs in football history in Unterföhring.

In the 2011/12 season Unterföhring was in twelfth place in the Landesliga Süd, directly behind FC Pipinsried. In the restructuring year of the Bavarian amateur leagues, you had to survive two relegation rounds for the jump into the two-part Bayernliga. After the success in round one against Bad Abbach (1: 0, 2: 2), Teschke had to leave, coach Andreas Pummer took over and completed the mission against FC Ergolding (0: 0, 1: 0). Teschke stood in the stands in the decisive game as a fan in the Bayern jersey and was then thrown high into the air by the team.

"The dismissal was strange," says Teschke today, "but it all turned out well." FC Unterföhring reached the Bayern League for the first time in the club's history and Teschke was able to climb the career ladder. He took over the regional league team TSV 1860 Rosenheim and won the Bavarian Toto Cup including qualification for the DFB Cup.

In 2015 Teschke's path led to Bayern, where he became Holger Seitz's assistant. The two first trained the U19s in the Bundesliga and then switched to the amateurs, as everyone historically calls the second team. Teschke was part of the promotion team to the 3rd division - and won the championship there a few weeks ago.

Dirk Teschke has no order in his head and puts the third division championship on a level like the Bayern League promotion in Unterföhring. “In principle it's the same everywhere,” says Teschke, “it's about the whole thing and the further development of the players.” That was the case in Unterföhring and is also the case now at FC Bayern, where the youngest team in the 3rd division has new players for the professional squad.

In the coming days the new head coach of the second team will be presented, and then Dirk Teschke expects to step into the background again as an assistant coach. "Until then, I'll be happy when the sports management gives me their confidence," says Teschke. And in preparation for the new season he gives the humble team player: "I would like to hand over a cultivated field to the new man."
