Nice (AP) - Last year's fourth Emanuel Buchmann and the German ex-champion Maximilian Schachmann can compete in the Tour de France despite their fall injuries. The Bora-hansgrohe racing team announced. This means that the eight-person team remains as originally planned.
Buchmann had fallen over a week ago during the Dauphiné tour on a descent from Col de Plan and suffered severe bruises and abrasions. "The fall is bitter because I was in really good shape. At the Dauphiné I was the strongest on the mountain behind Roglic, together with Pinot. There are now a few question marks, especially since things are about to get going. There is no time to Roll in. Already on the second stage it goes into the mountains, "said Buchmann.
Teammate Schachmann can even start despite his broken collarbone. "Of course I would have wished for other conditions," said the Berliner and added: "I've trained as well as possible in the past few days and hope that it can also be done in the race and that I can deal with the pain." Schachmann had sustained the injury a week ago on the Lombardy tour when he was rammed by a car that was suddenly on the track.
