In 1995, TSV Eching just barely missed promotion to the Bayern League. In the decisive relegation game against SpVgg Weiden, there was a lot of bad luck in the game.
Eching - After relegation from the Bayern League in 1993, Willi Bierofka took over the coaching position at TSV Eching. For the second time and with the best memories. At his first stop in Eching in 1988, he had led the team to the championship title in the district league, they were then coached in the national league by Louca Moussa-Baba, also because Bierofka preferred a less successful liaison with his heart club 1860 Munich. So now the second attempt.
When he moved to Eching, he had hoped in vain to take over a Bayern division. The team was relegated (2: 3 after penalties against FC Gundelfingen), Bierofka had to start in the regional league, but wanted with all his might back to the Bavarian upper house.
TSV Eching: The 93/94 season was marked by a battle with TSV 1860 Rosenheim
After fourth place in the 93/94 season, it seemed that the wish would come true a year later. The season was marked by a duel at the top between the Echingern and TSV 1860 Rosenheim. Thanks to the help of TSV Landsberg, Eching was able to catch up again on the penultimate matchday and then had the Landsbergers as opponents at the season finale. With a goal from Norbert Düwel in the 92nd minute, they saved themselves in the deciding game, which was played in the round of SpVgg Unterhaching. A good 1000 visitors were there and, from Echinger's point of view, experienced a very unfortunate course.
TSV Eching has to go into the relegation - TSV 1860 Rosenheim is champion
After an offensive game with chances on both sides, the more homogeneous team from Rosenheim took the lead in the 58th minute, and when the Gebirgler increased to 2-0 in the 78th minute, disappointment was written on the faces of the Echinger fans.
But the Bierofka-Elf came back again. Michael Witzl marked the connection goal four minutes before the regular end. Eching mobilized the last of his strength, threw everything forward - and had a lot of bad luck in the end. All 21 players (at Rosenheim one player had seen red) were in one half. The people of Eching also opened up huge opportunities. Christian Grusz hit the crossbar from 15 meters, just seconds later Michael Witzl hit the post. But in the end it was clear: The champion was TSV 1860 Rosenheim, TSV Eching had to be relegated.

Bierofka looked composed after the defeat, but was seriously disappointed that his team had allowed so many chances for Rosenheim. Part of the responsibility was probably the absence of defense chief Matthias Meier due to a suspension. Now the Echinger hoped that he would be eligible to play again in the relegation game against SpVgg Weiden.
The traditional club from the Upper Palatinate could rely on its fans. Six days after the encounter in Unterhaching, the majority of the 1,800 spectators came from Weiden, and the game was played in Kareth-Lappersdorf, a town near Regensburg.
TSV Eching: last chance to win the Bayern league missed
Bierofka had to switch several times for the very last game of the season. Not only did Echinger fail with their objection to Matthias Meieier's suspension, Christian Sedlmeier and Christian Reimer were also missing. This time you got into the game much better, but it was bewitched. Again the aluminum prevented an important hit. A shot by Robert Loidl landed on the inside post, from where the ball bounced to the other post. Jürgen Grassl shot the ricochet again at the beams. There had only been 18 minutes played and Eching continued to put pressure on. But the goals fell on the other side. Robert Loidl was able to shorten a 2-0 deficit before half-time. Then it was 1: 3, and Michael Witzl made the connection. It followed - duplicity of the events for the game a few days ago - an assault run by Echinger until the final whistle. And again you were outnumbered because a Weidener saw yellow-red in the 70th minute. But despite good opportunities, it remained defeat. The many dropouts in the defense had ultimately cost the promotion, and Bierofka had to go into a third national league year with TSV Eching.
What no one could have guessed at that point in time: It was the last promising attempt by a team from Echinger for promotion to the Bayern League.
