The Tour de France is now taking place with Emanuel Buchmann. The fourth last year who had a serious fall can start at the 107th edition of the Tour of France (August 29 to September 20). Buchmann received approval for the most important cycling race in the world from the doctors on his Bora-hansgrohe team. However, the 27-year-old's ambitious goals are in danger. Buchmann had actually aimed for the podium on the tour.
"There are now a couple of question marks, especially since things are about to start right away," said Buchmann: "There is no time to curl up. Already on the second stage it goes into the mountains. How far I can keep up will be seen. Me can now only tackle the tour from day to day. "
In addition to Buchmann, Maximilian Schachmann will also be at the start for Bora-hansgrohe. The Berliner travels to the Grand Depart in Nice despite a broken collarbone on the Lombardy tour. The same goes for Gregor Mühlberger (Austria), who has recovered from a minor wrist injury.
The last form strong Buchmann had fallen in the preparatory race Criterium du Dauphiné and had given up injured. He suffered no fractures, but bad bruises on his back and buttocks. The planned high-altitude training camp following the Dauphiné was canceled, the focus was on Buchmann's quick recovery.
"Emanuel's bruises and bruises have proven to be very persistent," said team doctor Jan-Niklas Droste: "He had to take a few days off completely and lost important training days. Medically, it is a completely normal course of time, so if the trend continues, we are on the right track towards the tour. "
