Argentine star Lionel Messi today submitted a request to FIFA, to obtain a temporary card through which he could leave Barcelona.
Italian newspaper "BN Sports" reported that Barcelona captain Messi had applied to the International Federation for a certificate or temporary card allowing him to move to a new club next season in case Barcelona did not agree to his departure from the club.
In the event that Messi obtains the temporary card from FIFA, he can leave Barcelona without charge, even if the Spanish club claims his right later on, Lionel will continue to practice football normally through the permission he obtained from FIFA until the potential dispute between him and the club is resolved.
Messi wants to activate a clause in his contract that allows him to leave during the next season without paying the penalty clause of 700 million euros.
