Marseille beat Brest 3-2 in the French first division

Olympique de Marseille striker Florian Toffin scored his first goal in more than a year and scored two goals to help his team achieve a winning start with a 3-2 win over Brest in the French Premier League.

Marseille was supposed to start the season against Saint Etienne last week, but the match was postponed after the club announced four positive cases of Covid 19 among its players.

Earlier in the day, Monaco beat Metz 1-0, although he completed the match with 10 men early in the second half, with Benoit Badiachil scoring the winning goal from a fixed kick.

Nantes completed the match with nine men during their 2-1 victory over Nimes thanks to two first-half goals, but his defense faced many tests as goalkeeper Imran Loza got a direct send off in the 47th minute.

Left-back Fabio was later sent off to get two bookings.

Lille returned with a 1-0 victory from Rans Stadium, with the goal of Jonathan Bamba.

Saint Etienne beat Lorient 2-0 after a warm Roman double and two decisive passes from Arnaud Norden. Bordeaux also beat Angers 2-0 with two goals in the first half through Josh Maya and Touma Pasic.

Nice remain in the lead after two wins from two games, while reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain did not start the season after losing the Champions League final last week.
