The 30-year-old gold medalist in the giant slalom from 2010 announced her decision on Tuesday on social networks.
She has noticed in the past weeks and months that she can no longer achieve her top level, she said in a video message.
Germany's best female ski racer also won bronze in her specialty at the 2014 Olympic Games and silver at the 2015 and 2019 World Championships.
In the World Cup she won 19 races and three times the Giant Slalom World Cup (2011, 2012, 2018).
Rebensburg told her fans on Instagram: “Today is definitely not an easy day for me, because I have decided to end my career after 13 years with immediate effect.
I made this decision with a heavy heart and after careful consideration in the last few weeks.
After my injury in the spring and the past two months in snow training, I noticed that I was no longer able to achieve my absolute top level. From an early age it was always my ambition & incentive to win victories & you on the slopes But since I now have the feeling that I can no longer do justice to this, this is a very difficult decision, but for me it is inevitable.
With the memory of my last race weekend in Garmisch & the victory on the downhill, it is a great time to leave the winter sports stage.
I would like to thank my family, friends & fans as well as @dsv_alpin with all trainers, supervisors & my partners for the wonderful time & the years of support.
My thanks also go to my fellow skiers & all the people I have met in the World Cup in recent years.
