Hapoel Tel Aviv - the budget went down, but expectations only went up

When you calculate the total player budget of Hapoel Tel Aviv last season, you get close to NIS 5 million after the many exchanges and some of the improvements made to the staff.

This season the amounts have dropped by about 40 percent, and the club knows that this time they will think carefully before making further changes to the staff.

Despite the drastic drop in budget, it seems that professional manager Idan Steel has built a balanced and good team.

This is not to say that there are not a few question marks about the Reds, but at least their starting point is not bad at all.

In about three weeks the Reds will leave for Nicosia, in an attempt to win two games that will guarantee them a ticket to the home stage of the Champions League.

If they do succeed in the task, the group's leaders may use the money that will come in (about 600,000 shekels from the administration and Fiba grants) to attach a fifth foreigner, who will help withstand the load of both frameworks.

Hapoel Holon - reinventing themselves with a salary cap

After the departure of owner Shlomo Isaac and the economic damage due to the corona crisis and while forming the management team, Hapoel Holon is trying to reinvent itself, and it is not at all simple.

The budget of the players at the beginning of last season was more than $ 1.3 million (following the chain of exchanges during the season the budget increased by a few hundred thousand more dollars), and this season the club leaders decided that no player on the team would receive more than $ 130,000. The share of the budget allocated to Israeli players will be significantly reduced.

Guy Pnini and Yogev Ohayon each deducted more than $ 30,000 from their salaries to stay, and only Richard Howell remained on a relatively high salary.

In total, as can be seen in the attached table, this is a cut of about half a million dollars.

Compared to last season, foreign wages fell by about 30 percent and that of Israelis by 40 percent.

According to professionals, in Holon a much better and more diverse team is being built this season than it seemed at the beginning of the summer, but it is short and we will not be surprised if more foreigners and more Israeli players join later.

Maccabi Tel Aviv - it pays to keep the staff

Usually in order to maintain continuity you need to open the wallet.

To keep players successful, it is usually necessary to upgrade their contracts and get them to give up offers from teams that have seen their success.

But the player market in the Corona era is not at all similar to what we know.

Yannis Sapropoulos made it clear to the club's management from the first moment that in the current situation he prefers to do everything to keep as many players as possible in the squad, rather than embarking on unnecessary adventures.

Indeed, so far only two new foreigners have arrived, and another foreigner may arrive if the contacts with Quincy Acey do not succeed.

This time the players also understood this and preferred to stay in the team that was successful last season, and they themselves know their place in the hierarchy instead of looking for another team.

Thus, the Israeli champion kept almost all the staff (except for the injured players), and currently she also does so with a player budget very similar to last season's (about $ 7 million).

Hapoel Jerusalem - spend more and pay less

Hapoel Jerusalem is one of the teams most affected by the corona crisis, and according to rumors, the overall budget has dropped by about 30-25 percent in total.

According to the data we reveal, this drastic decline can be clearly seen in the players' budget.

The team opened last season from the capital with a player budget that hovered around $ 2.15 million, and this season the total salary has dropped to about $ 1.6 million.

Despite this, it seems that CEO Guy Harel and sports director Yotam Halperin have managed to build an equally good team, at least on paper.

Malcolm Hill is more diverse than James Paladin, and along with Tariq Phillip has significantly stabilized the defensive game, which was lacking last season.

The Israeli staff may need the reinforcement of another player, but past experience shows that when a good opportunity arrives in the middle of the season, the club's management will know how to make the right move and strengthen the necessary positions.
