The fifth section of the Tour de France closed tonight (Wednesday) with the victory of Wat Van Art who crossed the line first after 183 km from Gap to Pribas in a time of 4: 21.22 hours. Today he proved superior when he reached half a wheel ahead of Sam Bennett in the final sprint.
For Israel Startup Nation, the fifth segment was also successfully closed, with Hugo Hofschter finishing in tenth place and being involved in the final sprint, although he did not seriously threaten the identity of the winner.
Guy Niv finished in 145th place out of 172 riders still left in the race, and he crossed the line 4:50 minutes after the winner.
Julian Alaflip has kept the yellow shirt and will continue to lead in the overall standings.
The sixth section tomorrow will stretch over 191 km, will depart from La Tile and end with a Category 1 ascent to the Col de la Luste, a climb of 11.7 km with a slope of 7.3 percent.
On the face of it, this is a segment that might particularly wink at Guy Niv, who is considered a fast climber.
It is doubtful whether the Sun group will want to "burn" Niv's energies already in the fifth section, but there is no doubt that the end of the section will include that Niv will definitely be happy to try and dismantle.
