While the Spanish press announced that Lionel Messi was going to speak in the afternoon, no doubt to confirm that he was going to stay at FC Barcelona for an additional season, it was finally Jorge Messi who issued an official statement in order to respond to recent statements from Barca and La Liga, which had claimed that La Pulga could not leave free.
In the document, the player's father and agent explains that the release clause, estimated at 700 million euros by the media, cannot apply and that his son is entitled to leave the Catalan free club.
